The President of Georgian Judo Federation Mr. David Kevkhishvili has attended the judo lesson in secondary school of village Akhalsofeli of Kkvareli region. Judo lessons are held for pupils of 1st, 2nd and 3rd classes in both secondary schools of that region. Children are very interested in judo lessons. They have 25-30 pupils in a class, therefore approximately 100 pupils does judo there. We started judo lessons after the mats were set in schools. Very soon mats will be distributed in other schools in Kvareli region and we will held the judo lessons in 13 secondary school. Last year we held two seminars for the teachers who will teach judo at schools. The seminar was held by specialists from different countries. We have printed the judo handbooks and videos to show how to practice in this kind of sport. Georgian Judo Federation carries out the project “Judo lessons at Schools” with the great support of European Judo Union, Georgian Government and The Ministry of Education of Georgia. On the firs step the lessons will be held in schools of Kvareli Region as on the next one the project will cover schools of other regions of Kakheti. According to Georgian Judo Federation’s request the regional governments found the sources in their regional budget to purchase mats for school. As for the Georgian Judo Federation it will held the lessons for the teachers of judo. The other region, in witch we plan to held judo lessons is Akhmeta. The teachers of Akhmeta schools are already attending lessons how to teach judo at schools in schools of Kvareli region.
