The Georgian national team finished the European U23 Championships in Moldova with a triumph. On the final day of the tournament, the mixed team competition took place, where Georgia was seeded first. The Georgian judokas lived up to their status as favorites and became European champions for the second consecutive year.
In the opening round, Georgia defeated Romania 4–2, and in the semifinals, they overcame Turkey 4–1. In the final, Georgia faced France. The main matches ended in a 3–3 draw, but in the decisive tiebreak, Giorgi Terashvili (-73 kg) secured victory for the Georgian team.
Alongside Terashvili, Georgia’s lineup included Nino Loladze (-57 kg), Nino Tsiklauri (-70 kg), Lizi Kvartskhava (+70 kg), Giorgi Jabniashvili (-90 kg), and Shalva Gureshidze (+90 kg). The team’s coaches were Lomer Zhorzholiani and Kakha Motsradze.
The European U23 Mixed Team Championships have been held five times, with Georgia winning the title three times (2021, 2024, 2025) and claiming bronze twice (2022, 2023).
