Eteri Liparteliani has become the first Georgian female judoka to win a world champion title. Until now, in the history of judo, Georgian women had never won a medal of any kind at the World Championships, let alone a gold.

At the ongoing World Judo Championships in Budapest, Hungary, Eteri Liparteliani dominated the -57 kg weight category. In the final, she convincingly defeated Japan’s Momo Tamaoki.
